The Youth Action Board’s mission is to put the fun back into rec sports. Through education, advocacy, and leadership, they’re working to reshape the culture - one where athletes can: Make mistakes without fear, try multiple sports without judgment, and grow not just as players, but as people.
ESPN Take Back Sports Innovation Challenge Winner!
We’re proud to share that Mudsock Youth Athletics has been selected as a 2025 winner of the ESPN Take Back Sports Innovation Challenge. With the support of ESPN Citizenship, our Youth Action Board is taking bold steps to reshape the culture of youth sports by reducing outside pressures, prioritizing athlete well-being, and putting fun back at the center of the experience.

Youth-Powered Sports Try-It Day
In spring 2026 we hosted a Sports Try-It Day for kids in Kindergarten - 6th graders at HSE High School. Over 250 kids received a custom-designed “passport” and set off on a mission to explore 11+ beginner-friendly stations packed with sports. Who ran the stations? High schoolers who LOVED these sports and couldn't wait to pass that excitement on. Stations included opportunities to play football, rugby, lacrosse, basketball, pickleball, volleyball, cheer, softball, baseball, track, soccer and field hockey!
Kids will also had an opportunity to visit the Mental Health Zone to take part in simple, age-appropriate activities focused on confidence, emotional regulation, and healthy relationships with sport.
