About Track/XC
Welcome to Mudsock Track/XC
The Mudsock Youth Softball league is dedicated to providing a safe and competitive playing experience for Fishers-HSE district girls ages 5 to 18. Our goal is to provide the proper level of organization and instruction at the beginning and provide the girls options to play more competitive as they mature in the program. The league offers programs beginning with Rec league, with the option to try out for Rec All-Stars, and at 10U-18U several travel team options with the CATS.
We are proud to offer a full Spring program for over 600 girls and coming soon an option for a Fall Softball league.
The Mudsock Youth Softball program also hosts 8 tournaments through the Spring, Summer and Fall. These are sanctioned tournaments that draw teams from all over the state and region. This exposes over 5,200 young ladies and their families to our town and facilities.

Though Cross Country and Track and Field are very complementary sports, they do have two distinct seasons. Many of our athletes compete in both seasons to cross-train.
Track and Field 2023 Season:
The season runs from mid-April through early July, with Regional and National qualifiers able to compete through July.
Practices are Monday, Thursday and Saturday at Riverside Junior High 10910 Eller Road. Enter in the southern most drive way and follow it behind the school where the track is. Please DO NOT drop your athlete off. Please plan to stay nearby as we have injuries or inclement weather we may need you to pick up your athlete quickly. All practices will be at Riverside unless we inform you otherwise. Once meets start on Saturdays we will no longer be holding practices on Saturdays.
Monday Practice from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Thursday Practice from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Saturday Practice 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Registration will begin on January 1st, 2022 at myathletics.com.
Cross Country 2022 Season:

Mondays: 6-7:15 pm
Thursdays: 6-7:15 pm

USATF AGE GROUPS
The Fire follows the USATF rules and regulations regarding age group participation.
8 & under division
9 & 10 division
11 & 12 division
13 & 14 division
15 & 16 division
17 & 18 division
Age is determined as of December 31. At times it can get confusing for the kids as they see classmates in their same grade level compete in a different age group. Just remember its based on the child's age on December 31. Thus, if your child is 8 yrs old and their 9th birthday is December 20th, they must compete at the 9 & 10 yr old age group.

Cross Country
2026 Cross Country Program Overview
We are excited to offer 1st through 12th graders an opportunity to participate in cross country for the 2025 fall season. Our focus will be on fitness, fun and training to participate in meets. Cross country meets will include local meets and the USA Track & Field State Meet held in early November, with the opportunity to advance to Regionals (late November) and Nationals (early December). We will also compete in the YES and IYTA youth xc series. This will be a great introduction to cross country or an opportunity to expand and extend the cross country season offered by local schools. The full meet schedule will be available on the league website, which can be found under the programs tab at myathletics.com, prior to the season. We encourage athletes to participate in their school cross country programs during the season and run with us once their school program concludes.

Meets hosted by USATF will be available although a registration fee will be required.
We highly encourage our athletes to compete in the USATF State Meet and beyond if they qualify.
The IYTA and USATF meet schedules are still being solidified. With that said, expect the meets to occur on Saturdays between the second half of September and the early part of November, with USATF meets extending into the early December timeframe. More information to come!

Practices and Expectations
The track season takes place from April through early July with Regional and National qualifiers able to compete through July. Practices will be held on Monday and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Saturday mornings for rec from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.. Track meets will include Mudsock Track & Field sponsored meets, Indiana Youth Track Association (IYTA) meets (generally 4 meets which take place at the end of May and throughout the month of June) and the USA Track & Field State Meet held in Mid-June, with the opportunity to advance to the Regional meet (early July) and Nationals (late July). The full meet schedule will be available on the league website prior to the season.
Most practices will take place at Riverside Junior High School – 10910 Eller Rd. Fishers, IN 46038.
Athlete / Parent Expectations
Our goal with your athlete(s) will be to instill an interest in running / competition. The first 2 - 3 weeks will be difficult for most of our runners as they are working toward getting into shape. Our ask is that you please emphasize effort to your athlete during this initial period and throughout the remainder of the season. We encourage parents to begin having their athletes do some light jogging / stretching a few times a week prior to the kick-off of our season to help ease them into the conditioning period.
Per Mudsock and Fire regulations, practices are not a drop-off situation. Parents are required to stay at the Riverside track until practice has ended. It is too big of a group with too many uncontrolled variables, like weather, for you to drop your child off.
Proper training clothes and shoes are critical for track and field. Please have your athlete wear comfortable athletic clothing. Appropriate shoes are needed to provide the proper support required to prevent injuries and maximize potential. Inappropriate shoes (e.g. basketball shoes, high tops, crocs) should NOT be worn at practice or at meets. Spikes may also be purchased for meets but are completely optional and not for practice.
We will be looking for volunteers throughout the season to assist with practices and meets. Please do your best to help us out if you can.
Meet Expectations
As part of your athlete’s participation on the Fire, they’ll have the opportunity to participate in meets hosted by the IYTA (Indiana Youth Track Association) at no additional charge (included in your club fees). Optional meets hosted by USATF will be available although a registration fee will be required.
Membership Requirements
IYTA Membership (covered under your registration fee)
All Mudsock Track & Field athletes automatically receive membership in the Indiana Youth Track Association (IYTA) including entry into IYTA sponsored meets. (All IYTA meets are local: Westfield, Noblesville and Fishers). We will participate in 4 IYTA events during the year, which make up most of the track meets. Athletes will be responsible for all costs of travel to all meets and for all fees to enter non-Mudsock Track & Field/IYTA sponsored meets.
USATF Membership (cost $30)
All athletes must be registered for a USATF membership by visiting
USATF.org and using the
FIRE code 16-0177
to link with our team. Membership lasts one year and must be renewed. You can upload the athletes birth certificate directly to their account and MUST DO SO for proof of age in order to compete at the USATF State, Regional & National meet.
AthleticNET Account (free)
Families are encouraged to create a free account for their athlete at
Athletic.net so that they can keep track of their athletes records throughout their Track & Field and/or Cross Country career.

Fire Elite
Overview
This year we are proud to offer our Fire Elite program. The Fire Elite is an invitation only extension of our Fire program for high achieving athletes. Athletes who show exceptional effort and performance will be invited to join. Fire Elite athletes will receive personalized training and practice an additional night each week. The league will send invitations through Sports Connect (myathletics.com) to those athletes who meet the standard for Fire Elite. Parents will need to accept their invitation and pay the Fire Elite program fee to be placed on the team. More details regarding performance standards and program fees will follow.
FIRE ELITE TRACK & FIELD STANDARDS
The Elite program will once again be an invite-only program geared toward our older, more advanced athletes. The purpose of the program is to provide advanced training and to prepare these athletes for championship events.

We will be extending invitations shortly after the season starts.
