Background Checks
Mudsock Youth Athletics requires all head and assistant coaches to complete a background check (link below) every three years. Once selected to coach, the MYAthletics. office will determine which coaches require a new or updated background check. If a background check is needed, volunteers will be emailed by our background check provider, The Advocates at Sterling Volunteers, directly with a link to complete the screening.

Concussion Training

Mudsock Youth Athletics requires all head and assistant coaches to complete a concussion training course every three years. If concussion training is required, the MYAthletics office will contact you via email. PLEASE NOTE: FOOTBALL COACHES ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE A DIFFERENT CONCUSSION TRAINING COURSE*

Coaches must complete the CDC Online Concussion Course (link below) to fulfill their concussion education requirement. The CDC course takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and needs to be completed before the first practice. After completion of the online course, please email your completion certificate to training@myathletics.com.

*
Football coaches and board members are required to take a different Football Safety Training course every two years. The league commissioner will email the course information to coaches.

  • AEDs

    What is an AED?

An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a lightweight, portable device that delivers an electric shock through the chest to the heart. The shock can stop an irregular heart rhythm and allow a normal rhythm to resume following sudden cardiac arrest. Sudden cardiac arrest is an abrupt loss of heart function. If it’s not treated within minutes, it quickly leads to death. Most sudden cardiac arrests result from ventricular fibrillation. This is a rapid and unsynchronized heart rhythm starting in the heart’s lower pumping chambers (the ventricles). The heart must be “defibrillated” quickly, because a victim’s chance of surviving drops by seven to 10 percent for every minute a normal heartbeat isn’t restored.

    How to Use an AED

Our partner, IU Health, has created this six-minute video which demonstrates how to use an AED. All AEDs at park and school locations have written and verbal instructions included too. Thank you for watching.

  • First Aid Kits

Through our partnership with IU Health, Mudsock Youth Athletics provides every coach with a first aid kit prior to their first practice. Kits will be distributed by your league president, commissioner or equipment volunteer depending upon your sport.

What's in the kits? They are filled with cold packs, Band-Aids, ointment, gauze and gloves to handle minor bumps and bruises. If at any point during the season a coach needs more supplies, please reach out to us by calling 317-845-5582 or emailing info@myathletics.com. We are happy to help you restock and can leave  another kit outside of our office at Billericay Park for you to pick up.

  • Physical Contact & Youth Sports Statement

At Mudsock Youth Athletics (MYA), we are dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of all athletes in our programs. While physical contact between adult volunteers and children is generally not appropriate, there are situations where such contact may be necessary for safety or instructional purposes. This handout aims to provide clear guidance to all volunteers with MYA to help maintain a safe and supportive environment for our young athletes.
